Text Me When You Get Home

"Text Me has the thrills and laughs of a romantic comedy, but with an inverted message: 'There just isn't only one love story in our lives,' Schaefer writes. If you're lucky, friends will be the protagonists in these multiple love stories. It's high time that we start seeing it that way."-NPR.orgA personal and sociological examination-and ultimately a celebration-of the evolution of female friendship in pop culture and modern societyFor too long, women have been told that we are terrible at being friends, that we can't help being cruel or competitive, or that we inevitably abandon each other for romantic partners. But we are rejecting those stereotypes and reclaiming the power of female friendship. In Text Me When You Get Home, journalist Kayleen Schaefer interviews more than one hundred women about their BFFs, soulmates, girl gangs, and queens while tracing this cultural shift through the lens of pop culture. Our love for each other is reflected in Abbi and Ilana, Issa and Molly, #squadgoals, the acclaim of Girls Trip and Big Little Lies, and Galentine's Day.Schaefer also includes her own history of grappling with a world that told her to rely on men before she realized that her true source of support came from a strong tribe of women. Her personal narrative and celebration of her own relationships weaves throughout the evolution of female friendship on-screen, a serious look at how women have come to value one another and our relationships.Text Me When You Get Home is a validation that has never existed before. A thoughtful, heart-soaring, deeply reported look at how women are taking a stand for their friendships and not letting go.

Power electronic circuits for modern industrial applications Offering a remarkable variety of exercises, examples, and problems, including design-oriented problems, Issa Batarseh s POWER ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to analyze and design power electronic circuits for modern industrial applications. Batarseh presents detailed explanations of circuit operations, clear discussions of the theory behind power electronic circuits, and an effective problem-solving approach. The text first prepares you with necessary background material on devices, switching circuit analysis techniques, and converter types and methods of conversion, and then covers high-frequency non-isolated dc-to-dc converters, isolated dc-to-dc converters, and resonant soft-switching converters. The final chapters address traditional diode and SCR converters and dc-ac inverters. Highlights Each chapter features at least 10 exercises, which will help you understand basic concepts, equations, and circuit operations. Throughout the text, more than 250 problems of varying levels of difficulty give you the opportunity to use what you ve learned. Special design problems (highlighted with a 'D') offer open-ended opportunities to apply design techniques. Solved examples help you refine your problem-solving skills. Introductory material on devices, switching circuit analysis techniques, and converter types provides the background you need to understand power electronics concepts. Features detailed discussion on resonant and soft-switching dc-to-dc converters. Provides a simplified discussion of Pulse Wide Modulation (PWM) Technique. Holmes framed for murder! Who is the mysterious Issa? The sounds of running and men crying out came closer. Suddenly Sigerson's door burst open and an army of yellow- and maroon-clad police monks fell upon us, dragging us out into the street without so much as a word of explanation, through the mud and dung and then east across the Bridge of the Pleiades and on to the Jo-Kang, the Tibetan cathedral, the Holy of Holies of all Buddist Asia, then along several corridors and down numerous staircases and finally we found ourselves in the presence of the High Regent himself, the fourteen-year-old Dalai Lama! You are holding one of the rare stories to come to light involving "e;Sigerson,"e; the name Sherlock Holmes went by during the years when the world thought he was dead-his Great Hiatus! This story also has the distinction of being the true first sequel to Horace Holly's She, which was published in 1887 under the byline of Holly's agent, H. Rider Haggard. The only heretofore known sequel, Ayesha: The Return of She, was published in 1904 and records events that occurred two decades after She. This new tale, then, is a record of the events that took place between the two previously published adventures."e;Enjoyable and interesting. I found Millers' knowledge of Tibet and Buddhism fascinating. He writes a fine story, in what is quite obviously a labor of love. A must book to obtain."e; - Gary Lovisi in SHERLOCK HOLMES: The Great Detective in Paperback "e;The solving of the crime by Holmes-Sigerson was true Canon indeed. A pleasure."e; - John Bennett Shaw
